Soul of Woman

Jeane Vogel, Photographer and Photo Artist
Exhibited at Venus Envy, St. Louis, April 9-10, 2004

Soul of Woman is a series of 11 photographic portraits of young girls who are exploring their traditions and experimenting with self-expression. Each girl represents a vibrancy and vigor for new experiences that adult women tend to suppress or fear. The collection celebrates the unexpected radiance of girls and young women, and encourages adult women to recapture the effervescence of their souls.

Artist’s Statement & Bio: Jeane Vogel, photographer and photo artist
Photography does not capture a moment in time. Photography captures an essence of time.

A feeling. A mood. An impression.

Jeane Vogel is an award-winning photographer and photo artist who uses traditional and experimental tools and techniques to expose the world of nature and humankind in a singular light.

Jeane’s subjects range from documentary to photoimpressionism. Nature, animals, cityscapes, textures and people comprise the depth of her portfolio. Whether capturing the serenity of a waterfall or the mystical beauty of a Native American Pow Wow, Jeane works to convey the majesty of our world and the people who shape it everyday.

Jeane lives and works in St. Louis, MO with her husband, Steve Sorkin, their son and daughter. Jeane Vogel is represented by Photographer’s Direct, Artistic Judaics Productions, Period Gallery and Krueger Gallery. Her work is displayed often at private galleries and sales.
